Africa PID Alliance Joins the DOI Foundation as an Affiliate Member

Nairobi, Kenya– The Africa PID Alliance is pleased to announce its new affiliation with the DOI Foundation as an Affiliate Member. This affiliation connects the Africa PID Alliance with the global persistent identifier community, providing crucial support for the development of sustainable digital infrastructure across the African continent.
Jonathan Clark, Managing Agent of the DOI Foundation, expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership: “The DOI Foundation is delighted to welcome the Africa PID Alliance as an Affiliate Member. We fully support their mission to secure the future of African innovation, indigenous knowledge and cultural heritage. We are looking forward to working with them to develop their persistent identifier infrastructure.”
The Africa PID Alliance works to ensure that African research outputs, cultural artifacts, and indigenous knowledge receive proper digital identification, making them discoverable, accessible, and citable within global knowledge systems while ensuring appropriate attribution and protection. “This partnership will equip African institutions with globally recognized tools to better manage and share knowledge, significantly increasing the visibility and impact of African intellectual contributions,” remarked Joy Owango, the AfricaPID Alliance Project Lead.
