Africa PID Alliance Collaborates on Historic International Conference on Mammoths and Their Relatives (ICMR 2026)

Nairobi, Kenya – The Africa PID Alliance (APA) is proud to announce its role as a key collaborator in the 9th International Conference on Mammoths and Their Relatives (ICMR 2026). The conference, running from January 18–26, 2026 marks a historic moment as it makes its debut on the African continent.

Africa PID Alliance is partnering with the main host, the National Museums of Kenya (NMK), to ensure the event reinforces Africa’s central role in global paleontological and conservation research and establishes best practices for data management.

The ICMR 2026 is a global forum for studying all aspects of living and fossil proboscideans. As the evolutionary cradle of proboscideans, Africa offers an unparalleled context for this discussion.

The Africa PID Alliance, whose mission is to secure the future of African Innovation, Indigenous Knowledge, and cultural heritage, sees this partnership as a direct opportunity to influence the scholarly ecosystem. By supporting this historic African debut, the APA is ensuring that the wealth of research and collections shared is globally discoverable and tracked with integrity. Ultimately, this event highlights the importance of African-led digital infrastructure, such as the APA’s DOCiD™ system, in preserving and recognizing Africa’s unique contribution to global scientific knowledge.

We invite the global research community to join us in Nairobi to celebrate this historic convergence of science, heritage, and the future of African research infrastructure.

Standard Registration for ICMR 2026 is open now. Visit the official conference website for details https://mammothconf.co.ke/registration/
